Engineering Human Resources and Payroll, in coordination with the hiring/employing division, conducts a degree verification for employment purposes and in the case of promotion or reclassification, if applicable. Verification of a degree or license is required of the final candidate in the case where the position title requires a degree or license or if the candidate indicates having received a degree or license as a means to qualify for the position.

For purposes of a new hire, the degree verification is part of the Pre-Onboarding process.

In the case where the applicant/incumbent has an advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) from a U.S. based institution, the highest level degree will be verified.

Verifying International Degrees

It is the responsibility of Engineering HR and Payroll to verify international degrees. This may be accomplished by asking the potential employee or incumbent for an official transcript, copy of their diploma, or other documentation deemed acceptable. It is Engineering HR and Payroll’s discretion on what is acceptable proof of a degree or license.
