Q: When do classes begin? When do they end?
A: Class dates differ for each course.
- CompTIA Security+ Certification: May 20-July 31, 2025 (online)
- You will receive an email on that day with a link to open the course in Canvas, our learning management system. You will need to add your name and email address in order to access the course modules. The CompTIA Security+ exam must be completed and exam passed by August 20, 2025.
- Basic Fluid Power: July 1-August 7, 2025 (face-to-face)
- Introduction to Machinery: July 10-August 17, 2025 (face-to-face)
Q: How much time will the classes take?
A: CompTIA Security+ Certification
- This is a self-paced, asynchronous course, where you can come and go.
- The course includes over 300 short and easy modules with videos and notes that cover the concepts step by step.
- Short assessments at the end of each module check your knowledge.
- You will have the opportunity to practice what you learn with our practice labs in the course.
- Major objectives will be assessed at the end of the learning modules with the opportunity to practice for the exam just like you would when you take the test.
Basic Fluid Power
- Classes meet in-person, Tuesday and Thursday, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. in classroom B218/B218A on the Collin College Technical Campus.
Introduction to Machinery
- Classes meet in-person, Monday through Thursday, in classrooms EMI 119 and 170 on the Lone Star College – University Park campus. Class time options are: morning (8:00–10:40 a.m.), afternoon (2:00–4:40 p.m.) and evening (6:00–8:40 p.m.).
Q: Can I have a job?
If students can devote the time needed to complete coursework, exams, and/or projects for their chosen course(s), having a job is up to the student.

A: Bachelor's+ courses may meet your department's high-impact learning experience requirement. Please check with an advisor if these certificates can be applied to ENGR[X].
Q: What awards and certifications will students receive, and how may they be applied?
A: Upon successful completion of all courses, you will be awarded the Texas A&M Engineering Certificate of Completion for the Bachelor 's+ program. The Bachelor’s + certificate may be used to fulfill a student’s ENGR(x) requirement; it is up to the student to find out if the Bachelor’s certificate will be accepted by their department to fulfill this requirement. Students are encouraged to add the certification to their resume.
CompTIA Security+ Certification
- A CompTIA Security+ voucher will allow you to take the certification exam free of charge. After successfully passing the exam, you will receive CompTIA Security+ Exam Credentials.
