Sales of equipment are reviewed on a case by case basis. They are typically allowed when it is a benefit to the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES). TEES must own the equipment outright, with no sponsor restrictions. All sales must be approved by the agency director. Please have the department draft a memo, including any pertinent information, such as: asset number (if applicable), purchase price/account number, acquired date, depreciated value, potential buyer, and suggested sale price, with justification as to how the amount was determined. The memo should route through the following:
TO: M. Katherine Banks, Ph.D., P.E.
Vice Chancellor and Dean of Engineering
Director, Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station
THROUGH: Dimitris Lagoudas, Ph.D.
Associate Vice Chancellor for Engineering
Deputy Director, Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station
THROUGH: John Crawford, CPA
Assistant Vice Chancellor of Business Management
Chief Financial Officer, TEES
THROUGH: Andy B. Hinton, CPA
Controller, TEES
FROM: Department Head Name
Department Head, Department
The memo should be forwarded to the TEES Property Office for approvals.
Please note that the department must still follow the TAC requirement to wipe clean any equipment carrying data prior to a sale. If it is possible that restricted personal information, confidential information, mission-critical information, intellectual property, or licensed software is contained on the storage device, the storage device should be sanitized.
