Q: When do classes begin? When do they end?

A: Classes will begin on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. You will receive an email on that day with a link to open the course in Canvas, our learning management system. You will need to add your name and email address in order to access the course modules. The CompTIA Security+ course must be completed and exam passed by July 15, 2024. The CompTIA Network+ course must be completed and exam passed by August 9, 2024.

Q: How much time will the classes take? Can I have a job?

A: These courses work in the following manner:

  • This is a self-paced, asynchronous course, where you can come and go.
  • The course includes over 300 short and easy modules with videos and notes that cover the concepts step by step.
  • Short assessments at the end of each module check your knowledge.
  • You will have the opportunity to practice what you learn with our practice labs in the course.
  • Major objectives will be assessed at the end of the learning modules with the opportunity to practice for the exams just like you would when you take the test.

If students can devote the time needed to complete both courses (80 hours each) and take both exams, having a job is up to the student.

Q: Why should I take these classes?

A: Benefits include:

  • Build a strong base of knowledge
  • Enhance your resume
  • IT certifications make great first impressions to employers
  • CompTIA Security+ and Network+ are the industry standard
  • Certifications can help you reach career goals

Q: Will Bachelor's+ count toward my ENGR[X] requirement?

A: Bachelor's+ courses may meet your department's high-impact learning experience requirement. Please check with an advisor if these certificates can be applied to ENGR[X].

Q: What awards and certifications will students receive, and how may they be applied?

A: Upon successful completion of the CompTIA Security+ and Network+ courses and passing of corresponding exams, students will receive the CompTIA Security+ and CompTIA Network+ certificates as well as the  Bachelor's+ Program Certificate of Completion. The Bachelor's+ certificate may be used to fulfill a student's ENGR[X] requirement. It is up to the student to find out if the Bachelor's+ certificate will be accepted by their department to fulfill this requirement. Students are encouraged to add all certifications to their resume.

Q: Can I take only one of the two courses?

A: Yes, you can enroll in one course, but you will receive a certificate of completion, not the Bachelor's+ certificate. Only the Bachelor's+ certificate may be used to fulfill a student's ENGR[X] requirement.
