Competition Call for Skilled Trades Students

Are you learning machining, welding, CAD/CAM, metrology and/or additive manufacturing? If so, put your skills to the test and represent your school by participating in a Project MFG Integrated Manufacturing Competition coordinated by the SecureAmerica Institute and the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station.

About Project MFG

Project MFG shines a light on the need and opportunities for skilled trades by focusing on the development of new talent to provide a path forward for individuals and our country. Project MFG competitions throughout the United States promote the trades across industries and help advance the next generation of highly skilled trade professionals. As an integrated workforce development and recruitment effort, Project MFG collaborates across communities, the private sector and government to expand the U.S. industrial base workforce.
Support for Project MFG is funded by the Department of Defense’s Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) program as part of the National Imperative for Industrial Skills (NIIS) initiative.

COVID-19 Restrictions: All Texas A&M System COVID restrictions in effect at the time of the Project MFG competitions will be followed including wearing of face masks, social distancing, occupancy limits, sanitizing requirements and other restrictions that may apply at the locations will be strictly followed.

Required Team Skills

Interdisciplinary teams compete in a two-day challenge to fabricate a product to required specifications. The competition requires the following skills:
  • CNC Machining (3+2) or 5-axis (preferred)
  • Welding GMAW/GTAW
  • CAD/CAM
  • Measurement Sciences / Metrology
  • Industry 4.0 / Digital Thread (optional)
  • Additive Manufacturing (optional)
