The Texas A&M Board of Regents has voted to establish the Integrated National Security: Precise Insight & Resilient Engineering (INSPIRE) Alliance, a Texas nonprofit corporation affiliated with the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES). The INSPIRE Alliance will allow TEES to become a leader in applied national security research.
“By leveraging our expertise and innovation, we are positioning TEES as national leaders in delivering cutting-edge solutions that enhance security and resilience,” said John Sharp, chancellor of The Texas A&M University System. “This initiative will enhance our collaborations with the Department of Defense (DOD) and industry to drive economic growth and create new opportunities for our students, faculty and researchers.”
The establishment of INSPIRE as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization will allow TEES to solicit and enter into contracts or grants with a focus on applied research opportunities in the national security space, which is critical to deterring potential future conflicts. The organization’s vision is to become a trusted agent that provides engineering solutions enhancing the performance, effectiveness and safety of those responsible for national security.
This initiative will enhance our collaborations with the Department of Defense (DOD) and industry to drive economic growth and create new opportunities for our students, faculty and researchers.
“The INSPIRE Alliance will focus on Department of Defense activities and contracts to promote national security research,” said Dr. Robert H. Bishop, vice chancellor and dean of Texas A&M Engineering. “The INSPIRE Alliance expands Texas A&M’s research footprint beyond typical research grants, setting Texas A&M apart from other universities.”
The INSPIRE Alliance will include a wide array of research topics including autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, space innovations, data and materials sciences. INSPIRE will optimize, develop and deploy technology for the DOD and industry at high speed and large scale.
“The creation of the INSPIRE Alliance will drive innovation, create jobs and strengthen Texas's role in national security advancements,” said Bishop.
The INSPIRE Alliance has the potential to stimulate state and national economic growth while creating positive impact. It will also play a key role in Texas A&M’s research expenditure growth, attracting talent and advancing resilient engineering.
