IGNITE
Innovative Growth in Next Generation AI Technology EcosystemIGNITE is transforming the future of advanced research through innovative AI and high-performance computing infrastructure. Funded by the State of Texas and built with leading technology partners, IGNITE will provide the secure, scalable computing power needed to address complex challenges and drive discoveries with national and global impact.
Funded by the State of Texas, IGNITE is a shared AI and high-performance computing (HPC) platform set to become the cornerstone of the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station’s (TEES) advanced computing infrastructure. IGNITE will be powered by AMD Instinct™ MI355X Graphic Processing Units (GPUs) and hosted at an Equinix data center in Dallas. IGNITE will be complementary to The Texas A&M University System’s HPC resources such as Vision, FASTER and Grace, and engineered to scale alongside growing research demands. Built on a zero-trust policy model, the platform enables students, faculty, researchers, government agencies and industry partners to securely collaborate on complex, research and development spanning AI, national security, robotics, connected intelligence and scientific discovery.

As a research organization with more than a century of experience supporting federal agencies, industry and academia, we are constantly evolving to meet the needs of the programs we serve. This platform we’re building with Dell Technologies expands what we can take on — supporting increasingly complex, secure research for years to come. It aligns technology investment to long-term institutional priorities while positioning TEES to support the research programs that matter most to the nation.
Key Milestones
RFP Completed
Vendor selection is complete. This critical procurement phase secures the foundational hardware, infrastructure and industry partners needed to build Texas IGNITE.
Project Kick-Off
Texas IGNITE is officially underway. Key stakeholders, engineers, researchers and partners met to formally begin the building of the workload-ready platform.
Equipment Delivered
Building multi-tenancy security, data management, governance, facility readiness and platform infrastructure. We are also creating an incubation lab, a dedicated sandbox where researchers can train, experiment and safely onboard workflows.
Building the Infrastructure
Hardware leaves the integration facility and arrives at its final data center home. With the physical footprint established, the team transitions to final power-on, testing, networking tuning and security validation to bring Texas IGNITE online.
