Supplements System Policy 34.05

Rule Statement

Facilities owned or occupied by the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) will be free of smoking and tobacco use as provided in System Policy 34.05, Smoking, and by this rule. This rule is required by The Texas A&M University System (System) Policy 34.05 and provides guidelines concerning smoking and tobacco use.

Procedures and Responsibilities

1. REQUIREMENTS

• • 1.1 – All TEES facilities located on Texas A&M University (TAMU) property will comply with TAMU Rule 34.05.99.M1.
    • 1.1.1 – Property includes but is not limited to all grounds, buildings and structures, sidewalks, parking lots, walkways, and all vehicles owned, leased, or rented.
  • 1.2 – TEES facilities located on other System campuses will comply with the rule promulgated by those institutions.
  • 1.3 – Smoking and use of all forms of tobacco in all TEES facilities, including lease space and vehicles, is prohibited. This rule applies to all indoor air spaces including foyers, entryways to buildings, laboratories and offices.

2. COMPLIANCE

• • 2.1 – TEES Department Heads and Center Directors are responsible for ensuring that this rule is communicated to everyone who occupies space in a TEES facility or vehicle.

3. ENFORCEMENT

• • 3.1 – This rule relies on the thoughtfulness, consideration, and cooperation of smokers, tobacco users, and non-smokers/non-tobacco users for success. It is the responsibility of all TEES employees and visitors to observe the provisions of this rule.
  • 3.2 – Violations of this rule may result in corrective action as prescribed by system policies and regulations. Visitors refusing to comply may be asked to leave.
