The TEES Texas Center for Applied Technology (TCAT), along with the City of San Antonio, the San Antonio Independent School District, Alamo Colleges, San Antonio Youth Centers, CPS Energy, and the San Antonio Water System, celebrated the grand opening of the Mission Verde Center@Cooper Jan. 25.

The city will spend $1 million of its federal Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant toward energy improvements and retrofits at the center, which will be designed and monitored by TCAT. The center is the first-of-its-kind education, training and research center for renewable and energy-efficient technologies.

TCAT is a center of the Texas Engineering Experiment Station (TEES). Its engineers and scientists apply research to develop and insert technology to provide practical solutions to critical state and national needs.
