Texas A&M to lead multi-institution network supporting cyber expertise

With a grant from the National Science Foundation, Texas A&M University will lead a multi-institution network to promote cyber expertise among research universities, community colleges, minority-serving institutions and other organizations in the southwestern United States. The SWEETER (SouthWest Expertise in Expanding, Training, Education and Research) network will provide training and personnel to support and encourage collaboration across the invisible boundaries that often separate disciplines and institutions.

In March, the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station's (TEES) Center for Nuclear Security Science and Policy Initiatives, joined with the TEES Institute of Nuclear-Security and Cyber-Security Education and Research, the Bush School of Government and Public Service, and the Texas A&M University student chapter of the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management to present a panel discussion on 21st Century Deterrence and the 2018 Nuclear Posture Review.

Texas A&M designated National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations by NSA, one of few academic institutions in US to hold three NSA distinctions

The National Security Agency (NSA), along with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), has designated Texas A&M University as a National Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cyber Operations, making it one of only a handful of academic institutions in the United States to hold three NSA distinctions. Texas A&M is already designated as CAE – Four-Year Baccalaureate/Graduate Education (CAE-CDE) and CAE – Research (CAE-R). The newest designation certificates will be presented during an awards ceremony at the 9th Annual National Cyber Summit on June 7.
