Engineering Human Resources, in coordination with the hiring/employing division conducts degree verification for employment purposes and in the case of promotion or reclassification, if applicable. Verification of a degree or license is required of the final candidate in the case where the position title requires a degree or license or if the candidate indicates having received a degree or license as a means to qualify for the position.
This is also applicable for all promotions, reclassifications and temporary positions.
For purposes of a new hire, the degree verification is part of the Pre Onboarding process.
In the case where the applicant/incumbent has an advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) from a U.S. based institution, the highest level degree will be verified.
It is the responsibility of the division to verify international/foreign degrees. This may be accomplished by asking the potential employee/incumbent for a certified transcript of other documentation deemed acceptable. It is the division's discretion on what is acceptable proof of a degree or license.
