Industrial and systems capstone team evaluates IBM Watson for design project

A senior design capstone team in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Texas A&M University evaluated IBM Watson for use as the “brain-system” in an on-campus autonomous paratransit shuttle. This was the first time IBM partnered with a major university to explore the use of Watson’s services in alternative transportation mobility solutions.

Texas A&M College of Engineering ranks high in latest US News graduate rankings

Texas A&M Engineering’s graduate program was ranked 12th overall nationally and remained seventh among public institutions in the latest U.S. News & World Report survey, “America’s Best Graduate Schools 2019.”

Lawley appointed head of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering

M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering at Texas A&M University, has appointed Dr. Mark Lawley head of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. The appointment of Lawley, who has been serving as interim head of the department, is effective June 1.

Three appointed TEES Distinguished Research Professors

M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering, has appointed Dr. Richard Miles, Dr. Thomas Overbye and Dr. Zhijian “ZJ” Pei Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) Distinguished Research Professors. Pei’s appointment was effective Aug. 27, 2016, Overbye’s was effective Jan. 1 and Miles’s was effective Feb. 15.
