M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering, has appointed Dr. Bjorn Birgisson a Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) Distinguished Research Professor. The distinguished research professorship appointment was effective Aug. 15.
Birgisson is a professor in the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering at Texas A&M University and is the director of the Center for Infrastructure Renewal, a shared facility of TEES and the Texas A&M Transportation Institute. Birgisson earned his Master of Science in civil engineering from Cornell University and his Ph.D. in civil engineering (geomechanics) from the University of Minnesota.
