Employee Awards and Recognition

To recognize the dedication, service and contributions of the employees of TEES and the Look College of Engineering, several award and recognition programs have been developed. In addition to the programs listed here, some TEES divisions and Look College of Engineering academic departments have developed an internal award program for their employees. TEES Personnel Services is available to assist divisions wishing to develop or enhance their employee recognition and awards program.

A&M Engineering Staff Achievement Award

The A&M Engineering Staff Achievement Award is presented by the Vice Chancellor and Dean of Engineering, Director of TEES to recognize and reward staff who demonstrate outstanding performance and make significant contributions.

 

 

Award Benefit    

Successful candidates receive formal recognition among their peers, an award piece and one-thousand dollars. Up to six awards may be presented each year, contingent on the availability of funding and the eligibility of candidates.

 
Nomination Process  

Any employee of the college or TEES may initiate a nomination. All nominations must include support of the employee's supervisor and department/division head as evidenced by their signature on the nomination cover sheet. The nomination will consist of completed nomination questionnaires provided by the nominator and up to two (2) support individuals. Nominations must be submitted using the appropriate nomination forms, letters of recommendation will not be accepted.

 
Eligibility    

To be eligible for nomination the candidate must be in a full-time budgeted position with two or more years of continuous service within the Dwight Look College of Engineering and/or Texas Engineering Experiment Station; must have received a performance evaluation within the current evaluation cycle with an overall rating of no less than "meets expectations" and must not have received any disciplinary action within the past two years. Eligibility excludes: faculty, faculty equivalent, executive administrators, directors, director equivalents, student workers and graduate assistants. Recipients are eligible for re-nomination four years following receipt of award.

   
Selection Process    

Nominations are reviewed by a rotating ad-hoc committee with representation from an engineering academic department, TEES research center, administration and one of the service divisions. Recipients of the previous year's award also serve on the committee.

   

 

Engineering Safety Excellence Award
Safety in the classroom, the workplace and in engineering laboratories is vital to the success of our research and academic initiatives. The Engineering Safety Excellence Award, established in 1996, recognizes the efforts of employees who actively promote safety in the workplace.  
Award Benefit    
Successful candidates receive formal recognition among their peers, an award piece and one-thousand dollars.  
Nomination Process  

Any employee of TEES or the Look College of Engineering may submit a nomination on behalf of another employee so long as the nomination includes the support of the employee's immediate supervisor and division/department head.

The nominator and up to two (2) support individuals will complete the nomination questionnaire in support of the nomination, focusing on specific, quantifiable examples of the nominee's contribution towards safety.

To be eligible for nomination the candidate must be in a full-time budgeted position with two or more years of continuous service with the Dwight Look College of Engineering and/or Texas Engineering Experiment Station; must have received a performance evaluation during the most recent evaluation cycle with an overall rating of no less than "meets expectations"; must not have received any disciplinary action during the past two years, and, must not have received the award during the past four years. The individual must have demonstrated or contributed to the enhancement of safety issues. Eligibility excludes: executive administrators, directors, director equivalents, faculty, faculty equivalents, student workers and graduate assistants.

   
Selection Process    

Nominations are reviewed by a rotating ad-hoc committee with representation from the College of Engineering and TEES, including the previous year award recipient and the Manager of Engineering Safety.
